What Is the Chameleon Ultra?

The Chameleon Ultra is an open-source RFID/NFC tool from the RfidResearchGroup, built around dual chips that let it read, emulate, and analyze both low-frequency (125kHz) and high-frequency (13.56MHz) cards — everything from basic access fobs to more complex NFC tags. A companion app handles slot management and card analysis, and its rechargeable battery means it works untethered from a computer.

Pairs well with URLToNFC — a tool I built to turn any URL into a scannable NFC tag, exportable for Chameleon Ultra or Flipper Zero.

Flashing & Setup

No separate cable or manual flashing step — slot management, card reads, and firmware updates all happen through the companion app over USB or Bluetooth. Firmware itself comes from the official RfidResearchGroup/ChameleonUltra repo.
